Groups and subcontractor companies are matched by name, not by ID, so you can fill the sheet from what you see in the app. Matching ignores case. If a name matches nothing — or matches more than one group or company — that row is rejected and the rest of the file still imports.

Steps

  • Download the template — Click the template link to get a CSV with the correct column headers and a few example rows.
  • Fill in your data — One row per user.
  • Upload the file — Select your completed CSV.
  • Review the preview — Clockwise checks the whole file without creating anything and shows you every row: the name, type, and the group and subcontractor company each row actually matched. Rows it would skip are highlighted in red with the reason. This is where a misspelled firm or group name shows up — before the users exist.
  • Choose whether to invite — Tick Email each imported user an invitation to send everyone their account-setup link as soon as the import succeeds. It's off by default, so you can stage a roster ahead of go-live. Invitations are limited to 50 per import — larger files still import in one go, you just send their invitations from each user's page afterwards.
  • Confirm — The button tells you how many users will be created. Valid rows are created; skipped rows are reported back with the row number and the reason, exactly as the preview showed them.
  • Tips

  • Email addresses must be unique — duplicates are flagged as errors, and existing users are never overwritten.
  • The import creates users only. It doesn't set roles (everyone comes in as User), managers, or charge codes — set those afterwards from the Users list.
  • If you don't send invitations at import time, the Users list marks each new user Never signed in — open a user and click Resend invite to send their setup link.
  • A user whose invitation couldn't be emailed is still imported; the result panel lists the addresses so you can resend them individually.
